Be sure to hold on to the forms until you need to renew as there are no spares being sent to the club.

BACK TO 1 DAY MEETINGS

At the last general meeting, members voted that, due to costs and poor turnouts, the club would return to running 1 day meetings on the Sunday of our scheduled dates for the rest of the year. Title meetings, such as the ACT Title and Canberra Cup will remain full 2-day meetings.

The one day meetings will have 3 heats and 1 final, with 15 laps each. Small classes will be combined wherever possible to reduce the number of classes running to ensure the maximum number of laps are raced for each class.

The club calendar has been updated to reflect the new schedule.

PRECISION RED ARROW TEAM (PRATs) PROVE THAT 3 INTO 1 TOP CORNER WILL GO!

Awesome stuff, guys. Unfortunately our photographer was unable to capture the look on the face of Number 13 as 3 karts approached his rear at a rapid rate.

For more exciting action from the (very close) racing at the King and Queen of Karting meeting, trot over to the WebTrax Gallery.

Some of the highlights include:
Gordon Wells, being shown how to take the bottom corner a liiittle faster...
Brian Kelleher helping Bruce Otter get his excess kilo's up the back straight.
And, Postman Pat Atkinson showing us how far you can get off the track while still complying with Rule 16.17.1 (just!).

The next CKRC race meeting will be held at Wagga on Sunday 8th August as a shared meeting with the Wagga club. Points from this meeting count towards your CKRC championship points.

Note, this is also the Wagga 'Dash for Cash' race meeting, so you might make a few dollars out of the meeting as well. $20 per lap is paid for each lap that you lead. There will be 4 races, 10 laps each, ALL computer gridded, so everyone gets the same chance to start near the front.

Entry fee is $80.

Saturday will be a normal (free entry) practice day, and there will be a social event on Saturday night.

JUNE MEETING RESULTS

The June meeting results have now been posted on the Results page.

WORKING BEE, CATCH-TRAP MAINTENANCE

The working bee is on this Sunday. We are due to have an AKA track inspection of the track on the Monday after the next meeting. If the track does not pass the inspection it will be closed until it does. To ensure this does not happen, we have had a large truck load of pebbles delivered to boost up various catch traps around the track. The painting of ripple strips also needs to be completed.

We have a bob-cat coming on Sunday to move the bulk of the pebbles, but we need bodies to tidy everything up ready for the next race meeting and track inspection. The working-bee will start at 10am.

16/7/2004

GRIFFITH TRACK CLOSED

Griffith Kart Club have had to close their track for practice until further notice .

They, like Dubbo, had their track inspection paperwork lost somewhere before, or on, reaching the appropriate authorities.

They expect the paperwork to be resent early next week, and hope the track will be re-opened by the end of the week.

So, if you were planning on getting up there for some extra practice before the Junior State Titles, check their website griffithkarts.info for updates, or contact one of their committee members to find out if it has re-opened.

3/7/2004

'HEAVY'/'LIGHT' RACE FORMAT THIS WEEKEND

Just to confirm who is racing on which days this weekend. It will be 'Heavies' on Saturday, 'Lights' on Sunday, as per the website calendar.

Some people have got the impression that it would be the other way around, so if you know anyone who thinks this, please set them straight.

We realise this is not the reverse of our last standard meeting, and that is because originally the King/Queen of karting was going to be a heavy/light format. When we switched to 2 day title meetings, we did not adjust the remaining normal meetings to suit. We still end up with approximately the same number of days for each class on each day.
